NAF is a democratic organization and has an elected executive Board and an appointed Trustee Board. The organization operates through the following standing committees: (1) Research and Development (2) Finance (3) Ethics & Membership (4) Public Relations and Outreach and (5) Education.

Dr. Katherine Ntekim

Katherine Ntekim, NP received a doctorate in nursing from the University of Miami and works in the Correctional Health Services in the Broward county of South Florida.
Dr. Ntekim believes in providing comprehensive care to all age groups. She supports and encourages patients’ participatory care to enhance compliance in their overall wellness. She organized and continues to lead personnel through Global Hands Medical Foundation Inc, in providing medical and surgical mission projects to rural communities in Nigeria on a bi- annual basis. She collaborates with community health care providers to problem-solve and facilitates patients’ involvement in enhancing healthcare services.

Dr. Ntekim served as the president of Oron Development, USA (ODU); the president of Akwa Ibom Association Miami; Health Advisor for senate district 38 in Miami Dade and currently the president of the Nigerian-American Foundation (NAF).

Dr. Ntekim has been recognized and received numerous awards for professional excellence from the Broward county sheriff’s department and the Florida Nurses association. She has also received several awards from Akwa Ibom State Association and Miami Dade communities for her services to the community, both in the USA and Nigeria.

She is hard working, expressing her beliefs through her volunteer services and relates her knowledge to the underserved within the communities here and abroad. She is a mother of three children, with a supportive husband of over thirty years.

Dr. Ntekim seeks to foster opportunities for personal and collaborative growth for the NAF community through year-long programming such as targeted workshops geared towards creating and sustaining awareness of available resources. She seeks to build bridges within the ethnic communities in the spirit of mutual friendship. She works to strengthen the relationship between the community and project altruism and integrity of Nigerians in the South FL region
